Posture Lab: "The Tuck"

Take a deep dive into the structure and mechanics of a specific asana and learn what muscles and joints are required to create and stabilize the shape in your own body. Jill will help you explore active and passive actions, and guide you through variations of the posture in seated, standing, lying, or inverted options. This is an open-format workshop and yogis are encouraged to ask questions throughout.

There are a whole bunch of shapes that involve deep flexion of the spine and curling in of the legs to create a "tuck" form, the theme for May. We'll ignite the abdominal muscles to create core compression and connect to the strength of the hip flexors to pull the thighs in close. Asana will include seated folds like Marichyasana, standing balances like "Flamingo", and potentially some inverted balances like Bakasana (Crane Pose) and a tuck/half-tuck handstand.

The Spirit of Gratitude

Gratitude is one of the most important foundations for us to hold in life. Even when we are in the heart of struggle and darkness, our gratitude can provide us with the resilience to keep going. Gratitude allows us to be Gardeners of Light- to grow more awareness, more trust, more kindness, more compassion, more care, more love.

Join Joanna Benevides and your Soma community in bringing the spirit of gratitude to life. Through intention setting, intuitive and embodied movement, guided meditation and deep rest, we will connect deeply to the wisdom of our bodies, explore our internal landscape, and move to the rhythm of our heartbeat + breath in connection to everything around us. Together we will give thanks for the air that we breathe, for our bodies so capable and strong, and to all of life that sustains us, nurtures and nourishes us. Together we will commit to love and be Gardeners of Light.

Join Career Coach Speaker Aileen Axtmayer to get more clarity in your career. After turning inward, we'll discuss the concrete steps to use this information to find what you're passionate about. This session is open to everyone, but can be especially helpful if you:

  • Are in a job that's doesn’t feel like a good fit, but you’re overwhelmed with how to figure out what else exists

  • Are working in a toxic environment and feeling burnt out

THE RESET: Recharge Your Mind & Body

This workshop is the reset you have been craving. You know that burning the candle at both ends is unsustainable. You know that there is a trap in thinking, "it will get easier when...." But you know that something has to change. Your body needs some love and attention.

This is why Sarah created the RESET. You need to create a boundary to actually give your mind and body the rest and recharge it so desperately needs and deserves.

Join Sarah for this 2-hour workshop of gentle movement, meditation, self-massage using Yoga Tune Up Therapy Balls, and probably a little kumbayah because she can't help herself!
