Winter Solstice Ceremony
The Winter Solstice has been recognized by cultures around the world for thousands of years, acknowledging the shortest day of the year as a return to light, and a rebirth of the sun. A sacred astronomical event that is celebrated through ceremonies and rituals that honor our deep connection to nature, the land and sky energies, and the cosmic and Earth cycles. The Solstice offers us a powerful opportunity to pause, and the darkness and still night an invitation to journey inward toward self-reflection, regeneration and renewal.
Join Joanna and Rachael for a sacred ceremony and a full body-mind-spirit immersion to honor the delicate dance between the poles of light and dark. We will come together in circle for an opening ceremony, followed by a warming and grounding movement practice, infused with breathwork and sound to clear energetic blockages and ignite your inner fire of purification & release. Sound Bath + Aromatics Ceremony

Join Lynne for a special ceremony to restore the physical and energetic body and encourage an opening to deeper spiritual connection through sound and other sensory organs. Instruments will include sound bowls, chimes, plants and recorded music. The Sound Bath is received in a reclining position - supported by props for maximum comfort and rest. At the start we will work with guided breath and the end of the Sound Bath will include a silent meditation to receive and connect to the potent space that the Sound Bath creates.
We will work with plants (sage, copal, sandalwood and others) in their resin, dried wood and dried form around the room. The experience will include many layers of sensory immersion - sound and smell - layer upon layer.

Pilates Principles
Dive deeper into the principles of Pilates with Soma’s Pilates Director, Kim Valentine. Whether you’re a seasoned regular or new to Pilates, this is an all-levels workshop for those looking to deepen their Pilates practice, including a full length Pilates workout, followed by a breakdown of the six Pilates principles.
Kim will guide you through the essential and intermediate repertoire, allowing time for questions and to explore the more technical side of Pilates that there isn’t always time for during class. This workshop will provide you with a stronger understanding of the Pilates principles along with functional movement concepts that you can bring with you to your next class or workout, no matter what the method is.
To take class with Kim is to know that you will hear the ‘why’ behind each exercise, and walk away having learned more about your body. Kim Valentine is Soma’s Pilates Director and is comprehensively certified in STOTT Pilates.

One of the most significant transitions of the year is upon us. The Fall Equinox is an opportunity to celebrate our harvest, both literally and figuratively. It is a time to reflect and acknowledge the ways in which we've shown up in all facets of our lives. We work with the potency of this shift to reevaluate our intentions, make any necessary changes and express gratitude for what already is.
Yera will lead a yin yoga practice to create space and move stagnant energy in the body. Followed by breathwork and a restorative element to soothe the nervous system and support the body towards a state of ease. Yoga on the Vineyard
Join Soma director, Amy Leydon, on her magical retreat, Yoga on the Vineyard. This retreat is more than a vacation. It’s a time to slow down, eat well, and connect with old and new friends. It’s a time to let our hair down and feel free to be ourselves and be accepted for who we are. There is so much healing movement on this trip: yoga, dance, strength, hiking, biking, intuitive flows, and lots of dynamic rest. Posture Lab: "The Tuck"
Take a deep dive into the structure and mechanics of a specific asana and learn what muscles and joints are required to create and stabilize the shape in your own body. Jill will help you explore active and passive actions, and guide you through variations of the posture in seated, standing, lying, or inverted options. This is an open-format workshop and yogis are encouraged to ask questions throughout.
There are a whole bunch of shapes that involve deep flexion of the spine and curling in of the legs to create a "tuck" form, the theme for May. We'll ignite the abdominal muscles to create core compression and connect to the strength of the hip flexors to pull the thighs in close. Asana will include seated folds like Marichyasana, standing balances like "Flamingo", and potentially some inverted balances like Bakasana (Crane Pose) and a tuck/half-tuck handstand.
A New Bloom: A Spring Invocation with Yera Gomes and Alicia Mathewson
We are in the season of new blooms. As we move through the vitality of Spring, we're invited to nurture our ideas, plant seeds and connect with the renewal of nature. All levels of practitioners are invited to attend the Posture Lab with Jill every second Saturday of the month. The theme for April is Twists and Revolved Folds. We'll take the spine through its six directions of movement, talk about how twists behave differently in the different sections of the spine, and explore how the position of the shoulders and hips impact the comfort of our rotated postures. Asana will include Parivrtta Trikonasana (Revolved Triangle), Pasasana (Noose Pose), and twisted versions of Krounchasana (Heron Pose) and Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana (Hand-to-Big-Toe Pose).
These workshops can now count towards CEC’s for Registered Yoga Teachers! Please inquire with Jill to get the credits.
Embody: Intro to Latin Dance Series
Shimmy and shake your way into spring with this beginner level dance series. Each week you'll learn simple solo dance technique and styling (no partner needed) inspired by the three most popular Latin dance genres (salsa, bachata, and merengue). Come join us Sunday evenings in April if you want to move outta your head and into your hips!
Led by: Angela Spignese + Jody Grimm
Angela Spignese has over ten years of experience teaching, performing, and social dancing a variety of Latin dances in the Boston area.
Jody Grimm is Soma's in house psychotherapist. Her work is heavily informed by her own somatic experience, which includes ten years dancing Latin dances in the Boston area. Angela was Jody's first salsa instructor.

Women's Nike Event
Soma and Nike are inviting women from across the Boston community to come together in one of Boston’s premier yoga studios for an evening of movement, mindfulness, and connection. Join Amy Leydon for a 2nd chakra flow celebrating our feminine energy.
We will be featuring some of Nike’s latest offerings of bras and leggings from the Nike Zenvy Collections and everyone who attends will be gifted a Nike outfit for FREE!

Girl on Fire
Celebrate International Woman's Month with this very special pulse class taught by Amy Leydon. Girl on Fire is designed to uplift and empower our feminine energy through music and movement.
Pulse combines the mindfulness of a yoga class with the power of a fitness class, you will explore asana based strength interspersed with cardio rounds and kriyas. It is a cathartic experience that will ease you out of your comfort zone. It is physically challenging and musically driven.
